Wormy Maple
Underside relief grooves and other design details of our tongue and groove permit normal movement and reduce squeaking in the finished floor. Sticking to strict tolerances in milling results in a precise fit on sides and ends of our planks. Our bundles contain long average lengths, creating a rich look of continuity in the finished floor.
Our Wormy Maple flooring is selected from “super wormy” stock, and is characterized by blue-grey to brown streaking resulting from small worm holes made during the life of the tree. It is quite stable and of medium hardness.
Wormy Maple is available in Madera grade in widths 7” and under. Although knots and holes are not frequent in Wormy Maple, this grade can contain color variation, numerous knots (both sound and open) up to 2” in diameter, holes up to ½” in diameter, some cracks, along with other occasional character marks. Lengths of planks vary form 1’ to 10’, with an average of about 5’.
Our wide-width, extra Dry Canyon grade in Wormy Maple can includes all sizes of sound knots, open holes up to 1” in diameter, some splits, cracks, all variations of color, along with other character marks. Again, knots and holes are not frequent. Lengths of planks vary from 3’ to 10-12’.
