Quartersawn / Riftsawn White Oak
Underside relief grooves and other design details of our tongue and groove permit normal movement and reduce squeaking in the finished floor. Sticking to strict tolerances in milling results in a precise fit on sides and ends of our planks. Our bundles contain long average lengths, creating a rich look of continuity in the finished floor.
A time-tested favorite, Quartersawn/Riftsawn White Oak is a very durable flooring material. It is derived from lumber which is cut with the grain oriented at a 30-90 degree angle to the face of the plank. Not only does the quartersawing process produce an attractive appearance in the wood, but also results in improved durability, surface smoothness, and stability. (It is about 50% more stable than plain-sawn White Oak.) Many planks contain interesting medullary rays or “fleck.”
Our Madera grade in Quartersawn/Riftsawn White Oak will contain a range of color, knots (both sound and open) up to 2” in diameter, holes up to ½” in diameter, some cracks, a small amount of sap wood along with other occasional character marks. We do allow edge defect in this grade, but some clear boards are also included. Lengths of planks vary from 1’ to 10’, with an average of about 5’. This grade results in a floor with the classic quartersawn look and occasional rustic defects.

Hardwood Floors are beautiful when done with experience. There is much that goes into hardwood flooring that may go overlooked. The difference between a veteran and a weekend warrior is tremendous. Pay for the pro and you will have very long lasting eye catching floors

I have 3 jobs, 3 kids, an ex husband, a loan to the bank, and so many days left untill the next payday, but even so my 10 minutes of free time…I spend it daily on cool online news and until now you never made me loose interest.

Hardwood Floors are beautiful when installed with patience. There is much that goes into hardwood flooring that may go overlooked. The difference between a professional and a weekend warrior is huge. Pay for the journeyman and you will have very long lasting beautiful floors
